The vegetarian currywurst was introduced in 2010. The sausage features in the AutoMuseum Volkswagen and at the Deutsches Currywurst Museum, until it closed in 2018. The pork cuts are trimmed to remove excess fat, which provides a fat content to the sausage of approximately 20%, significantly lower than the 35% usual for a bratwurst sausage. The sausage is made from pork delivered to the factory three times a week. The larger sized sausage weighs around 170 grams (6.0 oz).
